A "top rope" is a set-up whereby the rope goes from the "safety" person at the bottom up through a fixed anchor at the top before going down again to the climber.  As the climber ascends, the safety person pulls in any slack.  This is the safest way to climb as it minimises the distance that a climber would fall in any such event.

We will introduce you to the concepts of safety, technique and rope-work before carefully supervising you on the rock.
